Extraction: Arnica Oil is obtained from the dried flower heads of the Arnica herb infused in Sweet Almond Oil (prunis dulcis) in the ratio of herb:oil 1:5
Properties: Arnica Oil is astringent, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory.
Uses: Arnica is especially good for reducing pain and swelling while improving wound healing. It is used traditionally to treat bruises, sprains, strains, muscular and joint pain and stifness. There have also been studies that show that Arnica can improve the symptoms of osteoarthritis.
One study involved 204 patients with osteoarthritis (OA) in the fingers and compared three weeks treatment with Arnica gel against a 5% topical ibuprofen gel. Far more patients reported satisfaction with the Arnica treatment. Arnica can cause an allergic response known as contact dermatitis in sensitive people, so apply it to a small patch of skin first and wait a day or so to see if you develop a rash or reaction. - See more at: http://wrightnewsletter.com/2013/10/21/comfrey-and-arnica-fight/#sthash.y5XEt17n.dpuf
