About Abbey Essentials

When ancient Abbeys and Monasteries are excavated, they reveal fascinating stories about the past. Over two decades ago our founder heard a story about one Abbey in particular, where the remains of herbal remedies and historic treatments were found, preserved through time.

As a chemist, this inspired our finder Tony to start his own aromatherapy business, where customers could discover the highest quality oils and extracts from sustainable sources.

Today Abbey Essentials distribute all over the world, whilst remaining a small independent business. We pride ourselves on delivering top quality essential oils and providing expert advice, friendly customer service, and encouraging members of our community to advise and inspire each other too.

Abbey Essentials believes that beauty should be cruelty free. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements. 

All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.
