Gardenia flower petals are used in Chinese traditional medicine for their soothing properties and for cooling the blood and clearing away heat (a yin/yang imbalance often characterized by deficient yin). The Chinese also use Gardenia to help releive the symptoms of insomnia and depression.

Gardenia is commonly used in Chinese herbal formulas to treat infections, particularly bladder infections, abscesses, jaundice and blood in the urine, sputum, or stool.

Gardenia absolute is used mainly for its scent in high class perfumery.

Aroma: Gardenia Absolute Oil has a tropical, sweet, rich, jasmin-like scent.

Fragrance note: Middle.

Properties: Gardenia Absolute Oil is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory.

It dissipates irritability and relieves anxiety. Gardenia absolute is also helpful in correcting menopausal imbalances reflected in insomnia and depression, nervous tension, headache, and dizziness. Gardenia has an uplifiting aroma and is also said to be an aphrodisiac.

Pre-diluted to 5% in Grapeseed Oil which is rich in Vitamin E and Fatty Acids. It absorbs very quickly in to the skin and is a preferred cosmetic ingredient for damaged and stressed tissues because it possesses regenerative and restructuring qualities which allow better re-hydration of the skin.

Uses: Gardenia Absolute dilution may be used in massage, to fragrance soaps and potpourri. It may also be used as a perfume.
